Massachusetts can't afford to skip natural gas pipeline upgrade
Published in CommonWealth Beacon.

In CommonWealth Beacon, Paul Craney and Isaac Orr of Always On Energy Research highlight Fiscal Alliance Foundation research into Massachusetts’ energy affordability challenges and the potential benefits of expanding natural gas capacity.

The Foundation’s Project Beacon study found that expanding existing natural gas infrastructure could add approximately 300 million cubic feet of capacity per day and save Massachusetts families and businesses an average of $367 million per winter.

The additional capacity could also help reduce the winter price spikes that occur when New England’s natural gas system becomes constrained during periods of high demand.
